The foldable smartphone market has been heating up, with major players like Samsung and Google releasing new models. But Oppo is taking a different approach with the recently announced Find N3. This unique foldable has some compelling features that set it apart.

Design & Display
The Find N3 has a book-like folding design, unlike the horizontal fold on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold models. When unfolded, it reveals a massive 7.82-inch LTPO3 OLED display with a resolution of 2268×2440 pixels and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The external cover display is still very usable 6.31 inches.

But it’s the compact folded size that makes the N3 stand out. At just 5.8mm thin and weighing 239-245g, it’s one of the thinnest and lightest foldables around when closed up. The build quality looks top-notch too with a ceramic-coated cover display and aluminum frame.

Performance & Cameras
Under the hood, the Find N3 packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip along with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. So it should be an absolute performance beast.

The camera setup is headlined by a 48MP main shooter with OIS, joined by a 64MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 48MP ultrawide camera. The selfie cameras are 20MP and 32MP on the cover display. Hasselblad tuning aims to provide great image quality.

Other specs include a 4,805mAh battery with 67W charging, WiFi 6E, 5G, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and an IPX4 splash resistance rating. It ships with Android 13 but will be upgradeable to Android 14.

Early Impressions
While I haven’t gone hands-on yet, the Oppo Find N3 seems incredibly compelling on paper. The compact folded form factor could give it a significant portability advantage compared to wider foldables. The large 7.8″ internal display when unfolded provides a fantastic media viewing and multitasking experience.

With flagship specs, cameras, and a relatively affordable rumored #834,000 Naira price tag, the Find N3 could be foldable to beat in 2023 for its novel design alone. I’m looking forward to testing it out fully soon.
