Oppo, a company known primarily for its smartphones, has released its first Android tablet called the Oppo Pad. This mid-range tablet packs some impressive specs into a sleek aluminum body.
Design and Display
The Oppo Pad has a large 11-inch IPS LCD with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 480 nits of brightness. The tablet weighs in at around 1.1 lbs and is just 7.1mm thick. It’s available in black, silver, and purple colors.
Internal Hardware
Powering the Oppo Pad is the capable Snapdragon 870 5G chipset with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. It comes with 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage, though there is no microSD expansion.
For optics, you get a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera on the front, both capable of 1080p video recording.
Software and Battery
The tablet runs Android 11 with Oppo’s ColorOS 12 skin on top. Keeping it running is a large 8,360mAh battery that supports 33W wired fast charging and reverse wired charging.
Other specs include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, stereo speakers, accelerometer, gyro, and proximity sensors. There is no cellular option or headphone jack.
Pricing and Availability
The Oppo Pad launched in March 2022 starting around 192,960 Naira for the base 128GB model. It’s a reasonably affordable tablet that could make a solid multimedia consumption device or secondary machine.
While a bit late to the Android tablet game, the Oppo Pad shows Oppo can produce a competent slate with fairly modern specifications. It will be interesting to see if Oppo follows up with more tablets targeted at different price points.
