The Oppo Reno series has delivered some excellent mid-range and flagship smartphone options over the years. Their latest device, the Reno10, aims to continue that tradition of providing good value and performance. After getting my hands on this new model, here are my key takeaways:
Design & Display
The Reno10 has a premium design with a glass front and back sandwiching a plastic frame. At 8mm thick and 185g, it has a solid but manageable hand feel. The standout is the beautiful 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It gets plenty bright at 950 nits peak brightness and produces vibrant colors thanks to its 10-bit panel with HDR10+ support.
Performance
Powering the Reno10 is MediaTek’s capable Dimensity 7050 chipset built on a 6nm process. This octa-core CPU with up to 8GB RAM provides a smooth experience for most tasks and games. While not flagship-level, benchmarks like AnTuTu (566k+) and GeekBench (2400+) show it can handle its own against other upper mid-range chips.
Cameras
The triple camera system looks very promising on paper, featuring a high-res 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 32MP 2x telephoto lens. We’ll need to test it more, but the camera hardware and specs seem very good for this price range. Around the front, the 32MP selfie camera should also produce quality images.
Battery Life & Charging
With its large 5000mAh battery capacity and power-sipping Dimensity 7050 chip, the Reno10 shapes up to be an excellent long-lasting phone. It also supports 67W wired fast charging to quickly top up the battery.
The Rest
Other specs include 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 2.2 storage, 5G sub-6 and mmWave capabilities, an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, and Android 13 with ColorOS 14 on top. Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack.
Early Verdict
If you’re in the market for a well-rounded mid-range phone, the Oppo Reno10 looks like it could be a very compelling option with its attractive design, smooth display, multi-camera system, long battery life, and acceptable performance. Pricing is expected to start around #267,750 which makes it even more interesting if it can deliver on its promising spec sheet.
I’ll be putting the Reno10 through more thorough testing, so stay tuned for my full review on the website. But initially, this new Oppo has caught my attention as a solid mid-range choice for 2023.
