The Oppo Reno7 Z 5G is the latest addition to Oppo’s mid-range Reno lineup, launched in March 2022. Packing a capable Snapdragon 695 chipset, 5G connectivity, and a large 4500mAh battery, it aims to provide a well-rounded experience for budget-conscious buyers. Let’s dive into what this phone has to offer.

Design & Display
The Reno7 Z has a sleek design with a 7.5mm aluminum body and weighs 173g, striking a nice balance between portability and hand-feel. It features an IPX4 rating for water resistance. Around the back are the triple camera module and an RGB ring light that can notify you of incoming alerts and charging status – a neat design touch.

Upfront is a 6.43-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 409 ppi pixel density. It gets bright enough at 600 nits peak brightness and supports HDR for an immersive media experience.

Performance & Software
Powering the Reno7 Z is the upper mid-range Snapdragon 695 5G chip fabricated on a 6nm process. It’s paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD. For gaming and heavy apps, the performance should be perfectly adequate, though power users may want to look higher up the Reno range.

On the software side, you get Android 12 with Oppo’s ColorOS 12 on top. Oppo’s custom skins tend to be clean and user-friendly from my experience.

Cameras
The triple camera system consists of a 64MP f/1.7 main shooter, along with 2MP macro and depth sensors. While not the most versatile setup, the primary camera should capture good images in well-lit conditions. There’s also a 16MP selfie camera.

Video recording tops out at 1080p 30fps for the main and front cameras, which is acceptable but not exceptional in this price segment.

Battery & Others
One of the standout features is the large 4500mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging – Oppo claims it can hit 100% in just over an hour. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack, an in-display optical fingerprint reader, and all the expected connectivity features like dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi AC, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.

Priced at around 281,400 Naira, the Oppo Reno7 Z 5G seems like a reasonably well-rounded package for the mid-range segment with its modern design, capable internals, and large battery. It faces stiff competition from rivals, but Oppo’s reputation for clean software and fast charging could make it an appealing choice for many.
